How the ShineBright program works

Applying should feel simple and private. Here is exactly what happens, in order, so there are no surprises.

  1. Step 1

    Create your profile

Applicants create a secure account. Your information is private and visible only to authorized ShineBright staff reviewing your application.

  2. Step 2

    Tell us about your debt

Provide information about each qualifying debt. We never ask for full credit-card numbers unless a specific verification step requires it.

    • Creditor name
    • Account type
    • Current balance
    • Approximate interest rate
    • Minimum monthly payment
    • Account status
    • Optional supporting statement or document
  3. Step 3

    Complete your financial profile

This helps us understand your full situation. We only ask for what is needed to assess eligibility.

    • Full name and date of birth
    • Contact and residential information
    • Employment information
    • Household information and dependents
    • Monthly income
    • Monthly expenses
    • Financial hardship information
  4. Step 4

    Upload supporting documents

Documents are uploaded to private storage and accessed through short-lived, permission-checked links.

    • Identification
    • Debt statements
    • Proof of income
    • Supporting hardship documentation
    • Other documents requested by administrators
  5. Step 5

    Verification

Your application moves through a clear sequence of statuses that you can follow at any time.

    • Submitted
    • Under Review
    • Verification
    • Eligibility Review
    • Decision
  6. Step 6

    Assistance decision

If approved, your dashboard shows your qualifying debt, approved assistance, program terms, estimated remaining balance and next steps.

  7. Step 7

    Community impact

After receiving assistance, eligible beneficiaries can access approved community-impact opportunities matched to their program.

Any assistance figure shown before formal approval is an estimate based on the program's configured parameters. Estimates are not creditor settlements, and ShineBright does not represent that any creditor will accept, reduce or forgive a balance. Submitting an application does not guarantee assistance.
